NIR photography
exhilarates me as I attempt to visualize the way my dedicated NIR
camera captures the light of the red spectrum beyond that available
to the human eye. The brightness of chlorophyll-laden plant life
and the darkness of a clear blue sky make beautiful and unusual
contrasts that are a combination of the familiar and the unknown.
My successful infrared images are often composed differently than
my color photographs and some include man-made elements in conjunction
with the natural world. The last 5 images are of kelp and sea grass.
These were taken looking down and through the water. The graceful
motion shows the movement of the plants with the currents and waves.
